We believe that ministry is not the work of a few, but the calling of the whole church. As one body in Christ, we seek to grow in God’s word, encourage and strengthen one another, and reflect Christ’s love to the world. At Higher Ground Church, every area of service, from pastoral to worship and children’s ministry, is presently carried out by members who freely give their time and gifts as expressions of their faith and love.
MARK JONES
LEAD PASTOR
With a love for God, Jesus, and people, Mark Jones has served Higher Ground Church, first as associate pastor and now as lead pastor. In his time at HGC, he has encouraged and blessed many people. His passion for God’s word and wholehearted commitment to following Jesus Christ have inspired many to know God and Jesus, and to grow in a deeper, enduring faith. Pastor Jones faithfully holds to Jesus’ teaching that the Father is the only one who is truly God and that he, Jesus, is the Christ, God’s Messiah (John17:3).
A native Tennessean raised in the Nashville area, Mark attended the University of Tennessee and Middle Tennessee State University, earning both his BS and MBA from MTSU. He and his wife, Becky, both graduates of White House High School, make their home in White House.

LEAD PASTOR
Mark Jones, having served as associate pastor, now serves as lead Pastor at Higher Ground Church. With a deep love for God, Jesus, and people, he is passionate about God’s Word and committed to inspiring others to grow in a lasting, deeper faith in God. Pastor Jones faithfully holds to Jesus’ teaching that the Father is the only one who is truly God and that he, Jesus, is the Christ, God’s Messiah (John17:3).
A Nashville-area native, Mark earned his BS and MBA degrees from Middle Tennessee State University. He and his wife Becky live in White House, Tennessee.

PASTOR, BIBLE TEACHER
Higher Ground Church is honored to have J. Dan Gill serving as a pastor and Bible teacher. Along with his ministry at HGC, he is a frequent speaker at church conferences and a respected voice for the biblical message that there is One God, the Father & that Jesus is the Christ. Dan has authored numerous articles and papers on a wide range of biblical subjects and serves as Editor‑in‑Chief and a regular contributor to 21st Century Reformation Online. He is also the author of The One – In Defense of God, a book presenting the biblical case for absolute Christian monotheism, available through Amazon.com and Atlanta Bible College.
Dan is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, with academic studies focused on the history of Christian doctrine, early church history, the Reformation, and restoration movements. He studied biblical languages at Vanderbilt Divinity School and Belmont University. He and his wife Sharon make their home in White House, Tennessee.

Higher Ground Church Kids & Youth are led by Becky Jones, wife of Pastor Mark Jones. Becky has a genuine passion for God and a deep love for children, helping create an environment where every child can hear God’s Word, come to know God and Jesus, and grow in a faith that will guide them throughout life. Becky is a dedicated 5th‑grade teacher in the Sumner County School District. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with BA and Master’s degrees.
Nursery: A nursery is available for parents with infants and toddlers up to age 2. It overlooks the auditorium and includes audio so parents can enjoy the service while caring for their little ones.

They also offer an online playlist of individual worship songs for personal devotion and create special seasonal music programs that honor and celebrate God and Christ.
